Our fridge is on the outs again. This time, just the freezer, but nonetheless this sucks. *Points for using nonetheless and sucks in the same sentence.
We have a Samsung fridge - yes, the people known best for phones, and tvs - this is the same thing I said to my mother when she insisted on buying it because it was black, shiny, and came with an ice maker. I seriously butted in way too much on this purchase. She bought it from shady guy known as the “Appliance King” or as I like to refer to him “King of Shit and Stuff”. She felt it was a deal. Whatevs
Fast forward, she moves again and it goes in storage. We buy a house that does not come equipped with a fridge. Samsung it is. It was like new, she only used it a few months.
Everyone knows someone who has a fridge that dates back to the 60s. They are supposed to last forever… or at the very least a long time.
So the thing breaks down a few months ago right after a huge grocery purchase and everything had to be thrown out. Neat. Turns out, Samsung is shit and we were hard pressed to find someone willing to work on them. The guy who finally did, basically said they’re awful and he’d appreciate it if we don’t call him again.
For the last week I’ve been cruising Craig’s List. Found something today. Texted the guy my offer. He accepts. I ask when he can deliver. He asks for my location. I decide to call… Here is my message:
Uhh… Hi. This is Patty-Cake and we’ve been texting about the fridge, and uh … I just wanted to call, and uh … hear your voice. You hear all these things… Craig’s List … and my husband will be home all day - but he has my babies there and I’m scared… but, you sound like a nice guy… but, uh…we really need a fridge because we have a Samsung and they’re hard to work on, and uh. . well, I just wanted to call, because you can never be sure about these things…
*For the creepers who don’t know me - this is HILARIOUS because I handle my shit to the max full-time in my sleep. I don’t get marble mouthed and stupid. PLUS, I make a living doing a lot of phone work so I can usually put together a decent voice-mail.
